💭 Does your mind always seem to go to the worst-case scenario? 💭
Maybe you can relate—the first thought that pops up is often negative, expecting the worst. This is a natural response from our brain, a protective mechanism rooted in survival. Our brains are wired to scan for danger and prepare us for potential pain. But this “protective mode” can hold us back when it becomes our default.
I know this cycle well. My life has been filled with challenges - AKA “drama”: I lost my parents at an early age, and endured abuse, divorce, homelessness, addiction, broken friendships, and chronic health issues. All of these became the backdrop of my story. I became overprotective of everyone I loved because I knew firsthand the hurt and loss life can bring. Maybe you’ve been there, too, facing your own hard things.
Here’s the truth: those things happened, but they don’t have to define us or our future. When we start changing the meaning we give to those moments, when we begin to tell a new story, we start to change our default setting. This isn’t about “positive thinking”; it’s about shifting our thinking in light of God’s view of us—His love, His goodness, His promises for our lives.
When you choose to see your story through God’s eyes, your perspective changes, and so does your reality. Your past may have shaped you, but God’s vision can redefine you. Let go of the fear and lean into His love and purpose. You are not what happened to you; you are who God says you are. 🌟
